Growing Poplar in Acid Soils: Biomass Yield and Ash Behavior

چکیده
Atlantic areas of southern Europe have low water restrictions but are also characterized by acid soils with intrinsic fertility, so the selection clones that adapted to these characteristics is essential. In this study, biomass yield data for eight poplar established in two trials were evaluated after first rotation. Both sites representative had previously been used agriculture and levels alkali alkaline earth elements. The trial was determine which performed best terms stem size, testing Populus × euramericana (Dode) Guinier (I-214 AF2), P. interamericana Van Brokehuizen nigra L. (Monviso, AF6), three (Unal, Beaupre Raspalje), one trichocarpa Torr & A. Gray (Trichobel) clone. second explored possibility simultaneously growing timber, specifically considering Raspalje Trichobel balsam clones. To complete a previous study on energy properties, nine samples obtained from each evaluate composition behavior ash generated during combustion, particularly sintering risk. Several indices risk compared actual using BioSlag test. results show large differences between clones, derived (both hybrid or pure trichocarpa) performing best. Growth stems planted wood cuttings mixed biomass–timber arrangement provides good results, at least relative proportion oxides followed order CaO > K2O MgO >> P2O5 SiO2 Al2O3 Na2O Fe2O5 TiO2. Significant found MgO. Risk showed moderate elements, significant slagging hardness slag particles very thus, denoting selected yield. No covariate effect basal diameter any analyzed variables. We conclude site-undemanding can both reasonable quality chips combustion domestic thermal systems.

Biomass and Volume Yield in Mature Hybrid Poplar Plantations on Temperate Abandoned Farmland
In this study, we developed clone-specific allometric relationships, with the objective of calculating volume and biomass production after 13 years in 8 poplar plantations, located across an environmental gradient, and composed of 5 unrelated hybrid poplar clones. Allometry was found to be very similar for clones MxB-915311, NxM-3729 and DNxM-915508, all having P. maximoviczii parentage. Clones...
متن کاملComparison of Cadmium Adsorption Behavior in Selected Calcareous and Acid Soils
Cadmium (Cd) concentration in soil solution and its bioavailability is controlled by sorption-desorption reactions. The objective of this research was to compare Cd adsorption behavior in six calcareous and four acid soils. Soil samples were equilibrated with 0.01 M Ca(NO3)2 containing 25 to 3200 mg Cd L−1. Results showed that the tendency for adsorption was high at low Cd concentrations (0-400...
متن کاملInfluence of Sowing Times, Densities, and Soils to Biomass and Ethanol Yield of Sweet Sorghum
The use of biofuels helps to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels and therefore decreases CO2 emission. Ethanol mixed with gasoline in mandatory percentages has been used in many countries. However, production of ethanol mainly depends on food crops, commonly associated with problems such as governmental policies and social controversies. Sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) is one of t...
متن کاملAsh Melting Temperature Prediction from Chemical Composition of Biomass Ash
Solid fuels, including biomass, consist of combustible, ash and water. Ash in fuel is result of reaction of minerals presented in the biomass. Minerals and other different substances which form ash got into biomass during growth. Ash is solid residue resulted from the perfect laboratory combustion of fuel. It is composed of minerals that are present in the fuel. Some species of biomass ash have...
